- Maile Pino, Alamo Navajo Community School. Wants to study business management and is excited to be a role model for other young women in her Navajo community. She is this year’s Valedictorian and plays sports and is in the student council. AAUW $1,000 Priscilla Gwin Memorial Scholarship
Socorro High School
- Jenny Castro, Socorro High School. Wants to study Business and Music starting at CNM and then transferring to UNM. Jenny will be the first in her family to attend college. She also works for the Socorro Consolidated School District Office. Jenny is in the school choir and art club and volunteers for the Community Arts Party. - Justine Markland, Socorro High School. Wants to study nursing and eventually become a doctor. She has worked towards this goal by training to be a pharmacy technician. Justine participates in band, student council, National Honor’s Society, and golf. She also volunteers for Toys of Tots and the City Recycling Program. AAUW $1,000 Priscilla Gwin Memorial Scholarship
New Mexico Tech
- Tesla Newton, New Mexico Tech. Studying biomedical sciences/biomaterials engineering and is going to graduate in 2021. Tesla wants to eventually go into biomaterials engineering to research artificial organs and prosthetics. AAUW Socorro Branch NMT Scholarship – $1,000
- Kelsey Romero, New Mexico Tech. She is studying Geology and is graduating in 2021. After graduating, she hopes to get a Graduate degree at one of NMT’s sister schools in China. AAUW Socorro Branch NMT Scholarship – $1,000

New Mexico Tech
- Claire Homer, New Mexico Tech. Claire is a Math major who plans to get a master’s degree from New Mexico Tech and a teaching degree from the University of New Mexico so she can become a high-school math teacher in her hometown of Zuni, New Mexico. Claire is motivated to pursue this course because during high school she observed that most teachers only stay in Zuni for a year or two. She feels this effected students’ learning experience, making it difficult for Zuni students to prepare for college. After earning her degrees, she wants a permanent position in Zuni where she can challenge future generations of students. AAUW Socorro Branch NMT Scholarship – $1,000
- Elsa Kaspar, New Mexico Tech. Elsa is a Civil Engineering major who aspires to build bridges and improve interstate and highway roadways in New Mexico or Texas. She plans to get a master’s degree in transportation engineering, civil engineering or project management and work for New Mexico or Texas departments of transportation.
